Sophie and Alex chose the iconic Chelsea Old Town Hall for their ceremony — a favourite London wedding venue known for its classic architecture and intimate charm. With just over 40 of their nearest and dearest in attendance, the atmosphere was warm, emotional, and full of personality.
There was no fuss, no rigid timeline, and absolutely no pressure. In fact, there wasn’t even a wedding cake or a first dance — just a couple madly in love, saying “I do” in a way that felt true to them.
A London Bus, River Thames Portraits & A Bit of Spontaneity
After tying the knot, the newlyweds and their guests hopped aboard a traditional red London bus. It’s always such a nostalgic and fun way to travel through the city, and it set the tone perfectly for what was to come.
Midway to the reception, we pulled over by the River Thames for some impromptu portraits. With no set location in mind, I had to think on my feet — which is exactly what I love about documentary wedding photography. We made the most of the light, the unexpected setting, and the genuine energy of the group to create some editorial-style couple and bridal party photos that really tell the story of the day.

The celebrations continued at The Hollywood Arms in Chelsea, where Sophie and Alex had booked a private dining room for their reception. With candle light and a relaxed dinner-party vibe, it was the perfect setting for an evening filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and good food.
Later in the evening, a live band kicked off the dancing — no formal first dance, just pure joy and everyone letting loose in the best way possible.
